Ipswich COA Hosts Estate Planning Seminar for Seniors

POSTED ON: March 29, 2016

As part of their ongoing effort to serve the needs of Seniors in the community, the Ipswich Council on Aging recently hosted Attorney Matthew Karr of The Heritage Law Center for an informative Seminar on Estate Planning and Asset Preservation.

The hour-long presentation was attended by nearly 30 seniors who registered to attend the complimentary event. Karr reviewed important topics such as Estate Tax and Asset Protection Strategies, an overview of legal documents and their purpose, Revocable and Irrevocable trusts, MassHealth eligibility and more. Plenty of questions were asked and answered and the consensus was that audience members left with important knowledge that they could apply to their own lives.

“These workshops are so important for people to attend so they can ensure that they have done everything possible to protect themselves, their health wishes and their estates,” said Sheila Taylor, Executive Director of the Ipswich Council on Aging. “Although it is our hope that people have taken care of these important decisions ahead of time, these workshops are a great reminder to people that if they haven’t done it yet, it should be done immediately,” she added.

The Heritage Law Center believes in the importance of educating families on important legal topics through community outreach. If you belong to a group who would benefit from a short seminar on Estate Planning or Elder Law topics, please contact us to schedule a mutually agreeable time for Attorney Matthew Karr to visit your location.
